Garden Girl

Riley has been talking about having a garden for months. I haven't had a garden since I was a kid and was hesitant about the whole idea. But, her excitement won me over. We are giving it a try. I am going to cross my fingers and hope something grows. We'll keep you posted.

First (and last for a while) Ball Game

She wanted to go so bad. She didn't watch a single pitch. I am not sure she even realized there was a baseball game going on. But, she still had fun. She said hi to everyone around us, danced to the music and asked about a bazzillion questions. Typical Riley. When I asked her on the way home what her favorite part of the game was, she said "When I drank that water and spilled it all over my shirt. That was fun. Right Mom?" We obviously have different perceptions of fun!

"Feeling HOT, HOT, HOT"

After all the cool weather the last few weeks, today's 85 degree temperatures felt down right hot. When the kids asked about getting the sprinkler out for a while, I agreed. They had fun and enjoyed being cooled off. Playing in the sprinkler right after the grass is mowed probably isn't the best idea. Kids don't seem to notice or mind these things though. Nothing a shower can't get off.

Sprinkler Surprise

Washing my bike is really hard work.

I am hot, tired and thirsty.

I am going to get just a tiny drink to keep me going.

Woah!!!!!!!!!

That did not work out quite the way I planned.
At least, no one saw me. Right Mom?

Squirrels Seeking Shelter

The big, old oak tree in our back yard was hollowed out and home to many squirrels. We thought we better have it taken down before it came down on its own. On May 22, 2010, we had a tree company cut it down. It took 5 guys over 8 hours to get the job done. Watching them work was pretty amazing. You definitely have to have skill and courage to cut down a tree this big! I forgot to take pictures during the process, but here are some before and after photos. They are coming back tomorrow to grind the stump out, then the privacy fence can go back up.

A GREAT Day in May

Today was a beautiful May day. It was sunny with a high of 75. We decided to take full advantage of the beautiful weather to do some of our favorite things...

First, we went to Cole's baseball game and watched his team get another victory.

After a stop at home for lunch, it was off to the library. We then went to Aullwood Nature Center for a hike in the woods. The scenery was beautiful and the kids were surprisingly peaceful.

All that hiking made us work up an appetite. A trip to Dairy Queen was a must.

After getting some things done at home, we capped off the day with a backyard fire complete with hot dogs and marshmallows.

Why can't every day be a sunny, 75 degree Saturday in May?
