Reed's First Communion
Reed celebrated his First Communion at St. Christopher Church on Sunday, May 6th. Following the mass, Grandpa and Grandma Suchland, Godfather Jace, Godmother Annette and family came back to our house to celebrate. Reed picked a taco bar for dinner followed by an ice cream sundae bar for dessert. It was a great day.

Little Drummer Boy
Cole has been taking drum lessons for a couple of months now. Ever since he started, Reed too has grown more and more interested in drums. In November, Reed started saying that he wanted drums for Christmas. Steve and I told him he was too young and encouraged him to ask Santa for an electronic drum pad instead. In mid-December, we went to see Santa at the mall. Santa asked Reed what he wanted for Christmas. Before answering, Reed turned to me with a big smile on his face. He then looked at Santa and said, "I want a drum set." Santa said, "High five on that one", and gave Reed a high five. As soon as he got off Santa's lap, Reed came over and said, "I told you Santa would bring me drums for Christmas". He was right. Santa delivered as promised. Santa is now on my Naughty List. The least he could have done was bring me some ear plugs!

Haunted House Havoc
Reed went on a field trip to Brumbaugh Fruit Farm with his class on Wednesday, September 29th. While in the haunted house, Reed ran into a metal gate. We ended up at the doctor's office. Luckily, no stitches were needed. I told Reed he came out of the haunted house looking like he belonged in one! The last two pictures are of him "trying" to give his scariest monster face. Nasty cut or not, he is definitely too cute to scare anyone! Riley doesn't agree with me though. She keeps saying that Reed's face is broken and she doesn't like it that way. She wants him to go back to the doctor to fix his face.

The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From The Tree

Last weekend, Trent and Reed were playing basketball with the hoop on Reed's bedroom door. Reed was taking shots from on top of his bed. He fell and hit his forehead on the bed frame. The result was an immediate goose egg that ended up a lovely shade of green.
Last night, Reed fell down the steps and hit his head on the banister. He had another bump and a small cut-this time on the side of his head. He woke up this morning with a black (actually purple) eye. We assume it was from the same fall, but it is hard to tell with Reed.
One thing is for sure, he gets it honestly. Poor little guy.

He keeps going, and going and going...
Reed is always on the go. He doesn't stay in one spot for long. He just has so much energy. When he finally does sit still to eat dinner, his day sometimes catches up with him. His eyes get heavy and before long he is eating like this...

Eventually, he climbs down from the table and makes his way to the couch where he ends up like this...

And when he is out, he is out. Nothing and nobody can wake him up until it all starts over again the next day.

You've Come A Long Way Baby!
Reed has always been our "wild child". He has so much energy
and is always on the go. A while back, Reed said that when he
was made, God put sugar on his brain! It was his way of explaining
why he is always so full of life. With all this extra energy, Reed usually
did not want to take the time to sit and read with us or spend a lot of
time on educational activities. He was way too interested in what game
he was going to play next or what mischief he could get into to worry
about such trivial matters!
In August, Reed began kindergarten. About a month after school began,
Reed was recommended for the Extended Day Kindergarten Program
to help him catch up with kindergarten skills. And catch up he did!
Reed has done so well. He has received a green light every day so far this school year. A green light means that he has been on his best behavior. In December, Reed received the Citizen of the Month award for his Kindergarten class. This award goes to a student that the teacher wants to recognize as being a good role model.Reed recently received his report card for the first semester. He had all 3s,which is the highest rating he could have achieved. Reed's teacher reports that he is always polite and respects others and the school rules and is right on track. Reed is starting to read and write now and doing very well. We are so proud of Reed. More importantly, he is proud of himself. And, believe me, Reed is still having plenty of fun along the way!
