Jesus is more magic than Santa Claus
A story I don't want to forget. We all went to church on Christmas Eve. We had to get there much earlier than usual to be sure we got a seat. Riley was sitting on my lap talking while we were waiting for mass to start. She asked about Jesus on the cross. I told her that Jesus died on the cross but then he came back to life and rose to Heaven. Riley's eyes got big and she said, "Wow! Jesus is more magic than Santa Claus!". Yes he is Riley. Yes he is.

Christmas Morning
So many gifts, so little time. I will let the pictures tell the story of our Christmas morning. Needless to say, Santa did good. Cole's highlights included his electronic drum set, a desk for his bedroom and tickets to a Rush concert over Spring Break. Among other things, Trent received UD room decorations and an electric guitar. Reed listed his number one gift as his drum set. Santa brought Reed many Toy Story 3 toys as well. Riley loved her doll house, Strawberry Shortcake Cafe and Rapunzel set. The boys were also thrilled to receive Kinect for their XBox 360. All their excitement made their 4:45 a.m. wake up time not seem quite so bad. Every Christmas morning I am reminded that it is true what they say, it is better to give than receive. I love watching my kids be surprised and knowing Santa got it just right!
Little Drummer Boy
Cole has been taking drum lessons for a couple of months now. Ever since he started, Reed too has grown more and more interested in drums. In November, Reed started saying that he wanted drums for Christmas. Steve and I told him he was too young and encouraged him to ask Santa for an electronic drum pad instead. In mid-December, we went to see Santa at the mall. Santa asked Reed what he wanted for Christmas. Before answering, Reed turned to me with a big smile on his face. He then looked at Santa and said, "I want a drum set." Santa said, "High five on that one", and gave Reed a high five. As soon as he got off Santa's lap, Reed came over and said, "I told you Santa would bring me drums for Christmas". He was right. Santa delivered as promised. Santa is now on my Naughty List. The least he could have done was bring me some ear plugs!

Time to read "The Christmas Story"
Riley and I put up the nativity scene this weekend. We had an interesting conversation while I was getting things ready that went something like this:
Riley (upon seeing the stable): "Is that my new doll house?"
Me: "No, Jesus goes in there."
Riley (looking inside): "Where is Jesus?"
Me: "I have to go up in the attic to get him."
Riley: "Jesus lives in our attic?"
And while putting up the set, our conversation went like this:
Riley: "Mom, which person is your favorite?"
Me: "I like Jesus, of course, and the little drummer boy."
Riley (pointing to the angel): "I like the fairy best. She is beautiful."
Time to teach her about the "Reason for the Season"!

Dreaming of the Sweet Sixteen
The boys and I attended the Flyers season opener against Mount St. Marys on Saturday. New seasons are always fun. Hopes are high, wondering if this will be THE year. Praying it will. We were excited to see Chris Wright and Chris Johnson back in action along with the rest of the returning players. We were equally excited to see if the highly touted freshmen were going to live up to their hype. UD started off slow. The second half was much better than the first. They won with ease. We left knowing that these guys have a long way to go to become THE team but also knowing we will be along for the ride know matter how the season turns out. Go Flyers!

How do you say Trick or Treat in Spanish?
Dora didn't seem to know the answer to that either. She only said it a few times the entire night in English. Dora said she was being shy on trick or treat night. At least, she usually remembered to say thank you. Even though she wouldn't say Gracias instead as much as her Mami tried to get her to do so. She is growing up so fast. We took the wagon out again this year, but she insisted on walking up to every house with her brothers. The wagon came in handy at the end though. Once she was done, SHE WAS DONE. Need I say more?
