Call of the Wild

I was able to get off the last couple of days of the kids' Spring Break. When I asked them where they wanted to go, Trent, Reed and Riley unanimously agreed on the Columbus Zoo. We really love it there. They have so many animals. The playgrounds and petting zoo are another favorite of the kids. The best thing about the zoo is you never know what you are going to see. When we were there in the Fall, we spent a long time watching the gorillas and monkeys. They were so active and funny that day. This time, the gorillas and monkeys weren't doing much at all. Some of the highlights of this trip were the tiger and the bears. The bears made us feel like we were watching the National Geographic Channel. We were able to watch a grizzly bear go fishing (for real) in the underwater viewing tank. After a while, both grizzlies got out of the water and put on quite a show with one another. I am not sure if they were playing or fighting, but it was so incredible to watch.

A Hoppin' Good Time

Easter morning dawned bright and early with Reed asking me at 5:38 am whether they could please get up now. Because Trent and I hadn't got home from Holy Saturday mass until after 11 pm, I was tempted to tell him not yet. But, I knew more sleep was a lost cause. Reed would ask every 5 minutes until I let him get up. The kids were happy with what the bunny had brought. Steve and Cole went to 7 am mass. We took some quick outside pictures after lunch and then headed to Grandpa and Grandma Suchland's for the rest of the day.

"Hippity, Hoppity, Easters On It's Way"

We spent most of Holy Saturday preparing for Easter. Reed and Riley wanted to dye eggs so we dyed a dozen. The no mess kit that we used turned out to be the messiest way I have ever dyed Easter eggs. Ha! The colors turned out pretty though. We then moved on to making desserts for the Easter party at Grandpa and Grandma's house. We made peanut butter eggs, birds' nests (butterscotch flake cookies) and flower cupcakes. Trent, Reed and Riley all enjoyed making the cupcakes. They turned out really neat. The kids ditched me while I was finishing things up and had to do a zillion dishes. The weather was beautiful, and the trampoline was calling their name.

And Many More

As good as he takes aging, Steve did not like it when I told him that on March 9th, he would be closer to 50 than he would be to 40. Haha! We had dinner at home for his birthday-spaghetti chicken and cheesecake.

Artists At Work

Saw this idea on Pinterest, and Reed and Riley enjoyed it. I wrote their names with painters tape. They then painted all over them. Once the pictures dried, we peeled off the tape. They were surprised that their names were left in white.

"Snowmen"

With the Winter this year being so mild (we never had enough snow to cover the grass), these were the only "snowmen" that were made at our house.

Let the Good Times Roll

Usually once every Winter, the kids ask to go bowling. This year we went to Beaver-Vu Bowl in Beavercreek because we had been wanting to eat at Milanos Pizza for a while. Reed and Riley used the bumpers. Cole and Trent did not. Steve and I just watched. Riley won both games, but we all had fun.

Make A Wish

We celebrated Trent's 12th and Reed's 8th birthday on Sunday, January 29th. Grandpa and Grandma Suchland, Dina, Brad and family, Jace, Annette, Rod, and family, and Alex and Cristina came over to help celebrate.
