Ready, Set, Blow

Because of our Disney trip and some other things going on, we weren't able to have Trent and Reed's birthday party until Saturday, February 16th. Hard to believe that Trent is now a teenager! Grandpa and Grandma Suchland, Dina, Brad & Family, Annette, Rod & Family, and Alex and Cristina came. We had pizza for dinner and cake and ice cream later that evening.

Where the Wild Things Are

Our first day in Florida, we spotted a couple of frogs and a gecko. Trent quickly declared that Florida was "paradise". If I knew that was all it would take, I would have just brought him to the pet store! Trent and Reed spent a good deal of time trying to catch geckos, and they finally did. They held them and played with them before letting them go. One of the last days we were in Florida, one of the geckos had decided it had enough. When Reed picked it up by the tail, it turned around and bit him on the hand. Needless to say, the gecko hunting came to an abrupt end!

Heart Breaker

Our lives have been filled with basketball this winter. With Cole and Trent both playing on rec league basketball teams, they each have a practice and a game every week. In addition, we have gone to seven or eight Flyers games and watched most every other Flyers game on tv. Not to mention, trying to follow the NUMBER ONE ranked Buckeyes basketball team as best we can. Even with all that basketball, we were still looking forward to the UD vs. Xavier game on Sunday. It was my boys' first UD/Xavier game, and I was excited for them to experience it.

The first half was not pretty. UD couldn't make their shots. Their rebounding was almost as bad. At halftime, UD was losing by 12. The arena was quiet. It looked like the experience we were hoping for wasn't meant to be.

A couple of minutes into the second half, UD finally came alive. The momentum built, and the game grew close. The crowd was on its feet and making lots of noise-my boys and I included. UD tied it up with less than two minutes to go. It was exhilarating and stressful all at the same time. This is what we came to see! Unfortunately, UD just didn't have enough in them at the end. They lost 62 to 66. But, what a second half! We left feeling frustrated and disappointed but still happy . UD lost, but they fought to the end. You can't really ask for more than that.

I have enjoyed yet another season of UD basketball with my boys. I don't know if or where they will each go to college, but I think they will always love the Flyers. Go UD!

Birthday Bash

Saturday, January 29th was Reed's 7th Birthday. Trent will turn 11 on February 7th. We had a birthday party today for the both of them. Trent and Reed wanted a Dayton Flyers themed party and cake, and this mom was happy to oblige. Grandpa and Grandma Suchland, Braeden, Jace, Alex, Annette, Rod and Grey, and Dina, Brad and their kids attended the party. After opening presents, we had pizza for dinner followed by cake and ice cream in the evening. Trent and Reed enjoyed themselves and declared it another fun birthday. Those present even got to witness full on "Sugar Brain". You didn't think we made that up about Reed being hyper, did you? He was excited all day but the cake and ice cream pushed him over the edge. So much for us telling him that seven year olds were more grown up and mature! Oh well, he wouldn't be our Reed if he was any other way! Happy Birthday boys!
