Entertrainment Junction

Friday was WOEA Day. In other words, the kids were out of school. I took off work and took Trent, Reed and Riley to Entertrainment Junction in West Chester. The place is fairly new, so we had not been there before. It was nice to go somewhere different. They had a large model train display, a kids play area, a couple of different train rides, a Halloween area and several fun house type mazes along with some other things. All in all, it was a fun afternoon.

Indian Summer

The last week of weather has been so great. You just can't beat 70s and 80s in October. Knowing Saturday was going to be a nice day, we made plans to spend it all outside. Unfortunately, Steve and Cole had to work for the first part of the day. After early morning swim lessons, I took Trent, Reed and Riley to the Fall Fest at Kings Island. We spent the evening outside too. The kids jumped on the trampoline and played football. We built a fire and made a late dinner of hot dogs and marshmallows. A game of Ghost in the Graveyard was a great way to end the night.

(Well, actually, I ended the night by watching the Buckeyes lose after being ahead by 21 points, but I am trying really hard to forget that!)

Major League Fun

We went to the Cincinnati Reds game on Sunday, September 18th. We left a little late for the game and made it into our seats in the middle of the first inning. The Reds were already losing to the Brewers 4 to nothing. The Reds only had one run the whole game and lost 8-1. In the 2nd or 3rd inning, I got the news that Grandpa had gone to heaven. It was hard to handle, but we still tried to make the best of things. Riley drank a Mountain Dew and ate a Reese Cup and some cotton candy. She was on a SUGAR BUZZ. She cheered and danced and was more entertaining to watch than the game itself. On a funny note, every time they would play the cheer that ended with "Go Big Red", Riley would scream, "Go UD". A few times, she also yelled, "Go Bengals!" Oh well. At least she is cheering for the right teams (just not at the right times).

Bikes and Beats

Cole spent most of the summer working with Steve. He used his earnings to make three big purchases: a new drum set, a Trek mountain bike and an iPad. Much of his time is spent with one of these three things.

Back to School

The Summer of 2011 went by in a whirlwind. It was filled with lots of baseball, bike riding, movie watching, trips to Boomerang Bay (at Kings Island), a week of camping and a end of summer vacation to Florida. But you know what they say, "All good things must come to an end". August 30th brought the start of another school year. This is the year our four kids are in four different schools. Cole is a freshman at Butler High School. Trent is in the 6th grade at Smith Middle School. Reed is in the 2nd grade at Murlin Heights Elementary School. Riley started preschool at Creative Learning Center after Labor Day. We are already feeling the craziness with four different registrations, open houses, picture days, bus schedules,...It is going to be an interesting year.







(Cole's school starts at 7:10 am. He leaves the house at 6:45 am. I didn't even think to get the camera out until after he was already gone.)
